LORI JOHNSTONE
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I have had a lifelong interest in psychology, especially the psychology of relationships and how the connections we form shape us as individuals. My personal philosophy around change is that when we make the decision to change, and are provided appropriate support and systems around us—we are better able to make a shift toward wellbeing. I have special interest in collaborating with individuals who are experiencing anxiety and depression, challenging life transitions, grief and loss, in addition to relational challenges to help instill strategies for reducing symptoms and increasing quality of life. I am also interested in working with ADHD, autism, and LGBTQ2S+ communities.
As your therapist, my goal will be in providing a safe, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed environment expressing my sincere humility and a gentle curiosity into your unique perspective. Therefore, I tailor the approach to each individual. It is important to me to de-stigmatize mental health issues, allowing my own vulnerability to arise in the therapy room, enhancing our shared humanity. Together we will work towards instilling the change you wish to see.
I have learned that the key factor for success in therapy lies in the therapy relationship. Don’t hesitate to contact me for a complimentary consultation and discover if we could be the right fit for you!
