MADELAINE ROBILLARD
Hello! My name is Madelaine, and I am a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I graduated from the University of Calgary with both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Clinical Social Work and have a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy from The Prairie Institute of Expressive Arts Therapy. I have been working in the field of mental health for 8 years in the areas of domestic abuse, child welfare, Indigenous services, 2SLGBTQ+ identities, education, and healthcare.
I identify as a cis-gender woman who values spiritual and heart-based connections above all else. My work is centered around various perspectives and frameworks such as Indigenous ways of knowing and Indigenous Wholistic Theory, Buddhist psychology, quantum theory, and spirituality. Some of the roots that ground my practice are in working from a trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive, body-centered, intersectional, anti-oppressive, and sex positive approach. My communication style is gentle but direct and I believe in having authentic conversations with a value for honesty and transparency. A session with me may include expressive arts that aid in processing and expression, mindfulness and meditation, somatic and movement explorations, and are blended with a cognitive/narrative, solutions focused, strengths based, and wholistic approach. Being person-centered, I adapt my methods to meet the needs of my clients.
Some of the areas I specialize in are with Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Non-Binary, Queer and other 2SLGBTQ+ populations, couples, poly, and ethically non-monogamous relationships, kink and BDSM, domestic abuse, Indigenous populations, BIPOC poulations, ADHD, chronic pain, and spirituality. I strongly believe in finding the best therapist possible to support your personal needs and goals for healing and growth and encourage people to set up a free 15-minute consultation to assess fit.
